So the offseason begins, with dreams of new recruits and concerns over a full-blown NCAA investigation, the latest blow being the revelation that Michigan did not keep mandated logs of practice time. That won’t help the school’s case. Rodriguez is in the second year of a six-year deal that pays him $2.5 million per. The team failed and Weis failed. I was only pointing out that May was piling on by saying the schedule was watered down. It was a tough schedule and May made a stupid comment was my point. Other teams play tougher schedules and have better records.

The Braves have some of the strongest pitching depth in the majors and are hoping to deal an arm for a hitter this winter. But, as Rosenthal points out, Lowe turns 37 early next season, is guaranteed $15 million in each of the next three seasons, and he had a 6.65 ERA in his final nine starts of '09.
