Following are the major league teams that the Wall Street Journal considers the smartest and dumbest at least, according to its own arbitrary point system. Teams were awarded points for every player on the roster with a college degree or college experience. The WSJ said point values were weighted, depending on whether the player attended an elite school and if the player is a starter. The WSJ said managers also were included in the formula. Weve also added the current standing of the top and bottom teams, just to see if there is any correlation. Draw your own conclusion. UNCLE.. been playing the CDM games for whatever maybe 10 years and I am more proud of this team than even my 2nd OA of last year. These birds were buried in last place for the first six to eight weeks and have slowly climbed to the chance to cash in on 4th place against a group of outstanding players. As we all know...in CRAP SHOOT week it all comes down to who actually gets their 2X on Sunday and who gets rested for the playoffs. In the words of that famous baseballer "who knew!". 09/24 17:23:51 xb7 Footprints on the Ceiling

Six Pack - Sorry I cannot give you a good accounting on your question as to how many weeks that your team finished in second. I only record the weekly winner and comment on the second place team in the weekly report. It's my guess that the Six Pack team and also the Time Travlrs team were runner ups or in 3rd at least 3-4 times ... probably more. Maybe someone else has a more accurate number. 09/15 11:42:19 xb3 SIX PACK - ONe MOve
Dear Senator Phil....(on a personal note)..Team Six Pack was buried in last place for about the first eight weeks of the season due to extremely bad (stupid) decisions in the starting team. Somehow, that got sorted out and my question to you is: Do you have the records from each week of the season? If you do, how many times did team Six Pack finish second in a week? Seems like I have just missed the money about three or four times. This is a great group of players and I sure hope I can play with all of you for many more years...certainly appreciate UJ starting it and the great job you have done for us this year !!! 09/15 11:41:11 bb101 Comfortably Numb

A BIG "uh huh" to that! My plans of simply replacing CQ w/ a big OF bat have gone down the sheeter,,,Gonna throw a dart on who to dump,,,The bagels of CQ/Phillips or the equally worthless F*u*k*u/Lyon. This certainly has been one LONG year:) 09/13 10:06:21 xb6 Senator Blutarsky
Season ending injuries to Ankiel and Phillips, along with last week's injury to Quentin, and the week long DNPs of B.J. Upton, are making this week's replacement player very valuable. First - The ususal greetings and salutations to all. Second - Dropped Quentin for Dukes. Probably won't amount to any significant help. Third - Team is pretty much out of any winnings here except a possible weekly prize. Henceforth, moves will continue to be made. Fourth - This will be my last post here. I've got four football teams plus Dean is involved in one league with me. He is also doing our weekly football pool at work. I've been working six days mostly as well. I will concentrate my efforts in those spots. Fifth - Looks like a great battle at the top. Just hope an injury or some other unfortunate act doesn't lead to someone losing. Take care...if you're in the Yahoo football league I'm in...see you there. By the looks of things...a lot of work needs to be done thereas well. 09/08 12:33:53 xb1 BasicMoveBubbas

Dear Senator........... I was going to post this morning somthing simlar. Being a Quentin owner and only 200K cap to spare make the cheese more binding (to use an old expression). First thought was good old Nate McLouth but alas lack 40K of Nate's 1390 salary. The line up includes the likes of Lind, Ross, Bruce, Fanciso, and brother Lewis. Makes one kind of glad one is not battling for first place. 09/05 17:20:34 xb6 Senator Blutarsky
9 of the leagues's 16 teams have Carlos Quentin in the OF. Finding a replacement for him and his $1.15M salary is going to cause some scrambling. 09/01 12:15:14 xb10 El Tooey Muerte

OK, team SIX PACK has taken a major hit on its move to rise from the ashes to try for 4th place. The last three weeks we have shot one round after another below the water line. Three weeks ago we "upgraded" the DH spot with one "B" for another .. dropped Bruce for Braun. BANG. Braun goes intercoastal (or somthing). Last week we upgraded one "L" for another at DH. Longoria for Loney. BANG later Sunday the ROY gets a broken wrist and out for three weeks, a big donut! This week Jonathan Sanchez is heading for a nice 2X and BANG he goes down without the double. So, since this is working so well we will swap out one "J" for another. THIS WEEKS MOVE..Jonathan Sanchez out and Jon Lester in for a ??double??. I really love this league and my repeated thanks to Uncle for starting it and Phil for his excellent job of heading it up this year. 08/15 11:30:22 _58 Chipmunks
Thursday, Aug 14 2008, 09:40 AM... As Anthony Witrado reports in this morning's Mil. Journal Sentinel, outfielder Ryan Braun, who strained his intercostal last weekend, is feeling better. But what exactly is your intercostal? According to WebMd.com, there are 11 intercostal muscles on each side of the rib cage. The muscles connect one rib to another and work to spread the ribs apart and bring them back together again, effectively expanding and contracting the chest to help you breathe. WebMD also reports that there may be constant or severe pain, which is what Braun initially reported. But after a few days, the pain only occurs on stretching, coughing or breathing deeply. Most injuries, the Web site says, heal within a few weeks. 08/14 08:00:26 xb3 SIX PACK - ONe MOve

Hi Jerry. It's pretty obvious now that Canseco wasn't lying. Many don't agree w/ me,but I think they're burying their heads in the sand.Just look at the power numbers and radar guns and all the guys who can't play through injuries.....I dropped Vmart and picked up Ryan Doumit. 06/16 14:07:35 xb6 WV One-ders
The usual congrats to the group leaders. Wanted Kazmir for Owings this week...but had to drop Victor Martinez and picked up Russell Martin. It is still amazing to me the number of injuries throughout MLB to star players. Every week it seems to me many All-Star type players have injuries. Might just be my imagination though...never really paid much attention to those sorts of things except when it was to players on my fantasy team. Might be like Snuffy always says - the steroid-thing. Congrats to the group leaders and well wishes for the week ahead to all. Dropped Big Papi for Ryan Howard. Not a Sox fan at all, but hope he will be OK. Not sure Howard will help since he seems to be a little behind last year's pace. Considered Berkman, Gonzalez and Pujols in that order, but went with Howard. Got plenty of cap here and not much pitching...just can't get a chance to use the cap to improve. Might also be my imagination - but there seeems to be a high amount of injuries and to a great deal of "star" players this season. All Wright, thanks for the info. I wondered how long/far Cooperstown was from NYC. Still in the planning stage here. Thanks again. 06/07 20:22:18 bb6 ALL WRIGHT
Staying near LaGuardia Airport would be a good bet. Shea stadium is 5 minutes from Laguardia. To see a Yankee game you can take the #7 train from Shea to Yankee Stadium.Cooperstown is a 4+ hr drive NW of NYC, so it's a bit of a ride.If I was going to go all the way to Cooperstown,I'd spend the night there. It's so beautiful there you'll want to stay. The HOF ticket is a 2 day pass(needed, just to see it all properly)Theres lots of accomodations in Oneonta,NY if you can't find any in Cooperstown.Theres also a small town called Fly Creek, about 3 miles outside of Cooperstown that has a motel or 2. 06/06 11:29:24 xb10 El Tooey Muerte

Shea stadium is in Queens. Yankee stadium is in the Bronx. Neither is in Manhattan. 06/03 20:02:27 xb4 Dugout Diamonds Won Move
Reason I asked about NY, is that Waterboys and I are going to NY this summer to see the Yankees play in Yankee stadium, before they tear it down. I hope to see Shea also. My question, is that to save some $, would it be too far out of the way to stay out of Manhattan, say at Queens. Even thought of staying at one of the airport area hotels, (La Guardia probably). Looks like staying there is a little cheaper. Just take transportation into town for the day of site seeing. Also, would rent a car for a day to Cooperstown. Any thoughts/ideas or tips would be appreciated by any of you guys that live or have been there. Thanks 06/03 10:06:33 xb3 SIX PACK - ONe MOve
